I'm almost certain you did not use flash. Love the natural side lighting. I love the portrait. beautifull lady and the amber color really did wonders on her skin clothing her hair and even the wooden floor. This is a nice candid portrait as it does not look like she was expecting it but she didn't mind to take the picture. nice one Did you try and toast her

I beg to differ with Ade The amber is the effect of colour cast from the video lights, which you could have easily rectified in Picasa. That would have helped to pop the image and bring out more detail.
Since u opted not to use flash, increasing ur iso to 800 or above, would have bumped up ur shutter speed to dampen camera shake. I kind suspect that u probably didn't get a focus lock on her before snapping, as she appears to be underexposed.

I need a lot more tech analysis like this.Well, I'd go back and try correcting the colour (looking @ ds from a different monitor right now, it does not look so nice), and I now know better with the ISO.Always thought higher ISO=auto noisy shot but, I'm more and more advice to up my ISO. About d focus lock,I think I did,but not sure anymore. By the way,how do i rectify d colour cast with Picasa or CS3? Thanks a lot for dropping it like it's hot

If u shoot Raw, correcting Colour cast is very easy during conversion. By Choosing one of the shot setting options or white balance picker. But if u shoot jpeg, then listed below is applicable.

If ur image is correctly exposed at a high iso, u really will not notice the noise in the image, and will allow u to shoot a high shutter speed in instances where u chose not to use flash. Also, check ur Canon manual for high iso speed noise reduction setting, as it helps to reduce the noise generated in the image when shooting at high iso’s.

Picasa - 99 percent of the time by clicking on the Auto Colour tab will correct the colour cast. If it over shoots or u want to be precise then adjusting the colour temp bar or using the neutral colour picker to select something u know for sure is white or grey in the image would also rectify it. Both options can be found under the tuning tab.

There are so many ways of correcting in PS and some other bloggers might not necessarily agree with my method, but it does work. In PS2 I would go to Image – Adjustment – Levels – Options, and then select anyone of the 3 tabs that works best for me.

A lot of us are not blessed with the resources to calibrate our monitors, so we have to do it by sight

Baba-Foto: Thanks a great deal for the lesson. I tried both picasa options straight away and I find d neutral colour picker better 4 ds shot. I'd take note of that. I'm also taking note of adjusting the WB in-camera now,it works perfectly fine in readjusting itself. I'd try out the PS techniques pretty soon too. Thanks a lot, really appreciate the time and effort
